Subject: stumper - cat/storm/fisherman
A stumper for the collective brain (does this make us borg-like?!): a
storytelling patron is looking for a book published within the last year
or two. I've checked the latest A TO ZOO, but since it's a recent pub.,
i'm not sure what else to check! There is a small village/town that
survives on its fishing industry. Fishing has fallen off drastically and
all in the town are starving. A storm is coming but a lone fisherman
decides to go out and brave the storm anyway and his cat comes along. The
cat saves the day (she's hungry too) and they bring back tons of fish for
everyone. I've SEEN this book, but i can't remember the title. I do
remember storm clouds that resemble cat faces in the sky, and the cat is
the hero of the story. Ring any bells? TIA!

Subject: fighting families
Thank you to all of you who suggested titles for the foster child who is
being blamed for his parents' fighting. The three titles that seem to
fit the bill are:
Bernstein, Sharon A FAMILY THAT FIGHTS Whitman, 1991
Davis, Diane SOMETHING IS WRONG AT MY HOUSE Parenting, 1985
Hochban, Ty HEAR MY ROAR Annick Press, 1994.
As always, PUBYAC comes through!

Subject: Science fiction title
I know this is little weird, but I have a customer who is looking for
the title of a book and here is what I received as far as plot.
A tidal wave hits California and causes a catastophe, including economic
chaos. A man who has invented a specialised mainframe computer offers
to help people out and subsequently takes control over all things
financial. People likle this. The man becomes power crazy and starts
and eventually takes over the country, in control of ATM cards, bank
cards, accounts, etc. BUt there are small pockets of resistance groups
trying to fight him.
Any ideas?

Subject: STUMPER - Character Edith with bear photo book
I have a patron looking for the name of the author of a series of books in
which the main character was named Edith. Edith had a bear and the books
were photo type rather than using artists renderings. Finally the patron
remembers that these were very large books and that her daughter read them
about 30 years ago. TIA.
