Subject: Looking for a book

A patron is looking for a book which her Grandmother read to her probably
15 or 20 years ago. It is about two little squirrels, Scoot and
Skedaddle, who take a train ride to visit their aunt. They apparently get
into a lot of mischief along the way.
We've looked in all the obvious sources (A-Zoo, ect.) but have not had any
luck.
Does anyone out there have any ideas?

I appreciate your help.

COLLECTIVE PUBYAC INTELLIGENCE....

See if you can help me with this stumper:

Patron would like a book, title is possibly SNOWBOUND (but we've not been
able to find it under that title). It is a true story, about a person
named Peter Lindstrom (spelling?). It is set during the World War II era
and is about 6 children who smuggled gold. The patron who is looking for
this book is late 20's-early 30's in age, so that may give you a time
period as to when she read it.

If you can supply author/title, etc, we would appreciate it.

Subject: STUMPER: child goes through tree to another land

Does anyone remember a book from thirty years ago or more about a boy
who follows a little white dog through a tree into a fantasy land. The
dog's owner is waiting, and tells the child a story. There are goblins
and fairies and people--a princess? Someone in the story is named
Robin.

The patron got the book through one of the book clubs--Scholastic or one
of those.

Anyone?

Subject: contemporary realism

Hi all!
I am trying to put a book list together for a fifth grade level. I am
looking for books in the contemporary realism category - books that deal
with some kind of realistic problem such as divorce, handicap, death, being
different and having to deal with it, homelessness or any other problem you
can think of. I have some ideas, but would like your input. If you have any
good ideas please e-mail me directly at kmroth@erols.com
or post it to pubyac. If I get a good response, I'll compile it and post it.
Thanks in Advance,
Missy
