Subject: YA suitable books about end times?

Hello all,

A young female patron about 15 or 16 always asks me for books about the end
of the world. She is especially interested in non-fiction. Does anyone have
good titles to recommend that would be more balanced than some of the
popular religious titles. We have things such as "Late Great Planet Earth,"
"Rise of Babylon: Sign of the End Times," and "World News and Bible
Prophecy." I'd really like to offer her some other veiwpoints. I also
suggested "Armageddon Summer" by Coleville and Yolen, but that is definitely
not what she is looking for. Please help if you can. I'm really stuck with a
sort of one-sided batch of titles. Surely there's stuff out there I'm just
not aware of.

Thanks all,

Jeanne

Help! I have a patron looking for a book that was read to her when she was a girl (late 70's, I'd say), but she doesn't know when the book was actually written. The story takes place in Florida and is about a family on a boat looking for a conch shell. It's a chapter book. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Please email me if it does: streetp@neflin.org. Thanks!

Subject: STUMPER - Magic Cat

Hi,

I have an adult patron who is looking for a book she read when she was little ( 15-20 years ago). It is a chapter book about a magic cat and a girl. The cat may have been a statue with glowing red eyes. The book had some illustrations , maybe every couple of pages. I have checked What do Children read next and Beyond picture books.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Subject: Dog Story Stumper

Hello to All
I am another one of the people who has been "hiding in the shadows"
here for awhile and have finally emerged to ask for help. A patron came
in today and asked for help finding a book she read when she was a girl
(in the 1960's perhaps). She remembers the book was about a blond
cocker spaniel and dealt with the idea of companionship. She believes
the title was something like "Prince _______ _______ the Third" At any
rate, she is fairly certain the dog's name was Prince.
I have hit a dead end here. Any help would be appreicated.
Responses can be sent to me directly.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, headphones were not an option in our

we are still looking for solutions, also.
