Dear All,

I hope that you can help me. My husband remembers a book from childhood

(I believe that it's a picture book) where a child overfeeds his

goldfish. As a result, the fish grows too big to fit in the fish bowl

properly. I've tried doing some Web searching, Amazon, etc. but I don't

have enough to go on. If this rings a bell with anyone please let me

know as I would love to get him a copy as a gift.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Jackie Corinth

Hello all,

I had a patron who requested a picture book that she remembers from the '60s

or '70's. The main characters were a baby toad/frog and baby owl. She

remembers that they were separated from their parents and ended up

practicing making their noises all night in order to be found. We consulted

A to Zoo and did not find anything. Hopefully someone can help.

Please send responses directly to jlindsey@mcls.rochester.lib.ny.us . Thanks

in advance!

My patron's undying gratitude to ALL who responded to his story query re:

the boy who builds a rocket and saves a planet of aliens with sulfer from

eggs. The title was "The Wonderful Flight to the Mushroom Planet" by Eleanor

Cameron. Get ready to "Ahhhhh" because I thought you might enjoy the

follow-up to to this......

The patron came in one evening with his 2nd grade son to thank me (y'all)

and pick up the book. He took the book and his son to our "Storyland"

reading area in view of our desk, laid down with his son in the crook of his

arm and proceeded to quietly read the first two chapters outloud. Slowly,

five other children moved to sit close by and listen to this father

reading.

It was a picture perfect moment and I was witness to the magic of a great

story moving into a new generation.

You're wonderful people! Thank you!

Hi all,

Hope you can help me identify this book. It's quite new (99-2000) and it's

a spoof on Little Miss Muffet (and possibly other fairy tales/nursery

rhymes). The spider character is named Besider (sp?). Ring any bells?

I've tried keyword and subject searches in our catalog and Amazon, but I

think it's too new for most print resources.

Thanks,

We have a patron who's looking for a book he read 10 to 15 years ago.

It's the story of a Native American boy who is taken away from his

family. He rides broncos in the rodeo until the horses die. Sounds

pretty gruesome! He remembers nothing about the title of the book and

we have no other details to go on. We've checked our catalog, Sears

Subject Headings with no luck. Ring a bell with anyone?

Once again I appeal to the collective wisdom of the list

Our patron is searching for a book she read as a child. She

doesn't remember the author, title, or exactly when she read

it.

She does remember that it was written as a journal or diary

of a little girl in a logging town. She makes friends with a

mouse named "Theodore Meadolson" whom she carries in her

pocket. Both her parents have died, and she goes to live

with another logging family.

If this rings a bell for anyone, please let me know. Any

suggestions would be greatly received. Thanks!

I have two separate stumpers. Please reply directly to me and I

will post the answers, Thanks in advance.

1. A woman remembers reading a juvenile fiction book in the '50s about a

girl who goes to her grandmothers for the summer and finds a French

fashion doll in a cavity of a tree.

2. A man remembers a fiction/science series written possibly in the 30's

or 40's (they were not new when her read them in the 50's) about a

boy and his uncle and their adventures. Some clues are an island, rare

earth, minerals and adventures. It was about Hardy Boys level as he

recalls.
