I would say that anything more complicated than "do you have this
specific
book" or "where are the math books" is a reference question.
Plus if
the
answer to do you have this book is "no" I prefer them to refer to a
librarian because I might be able to identify a correct title/author or
refer patron to other appropriate material.

Hello. I am a MLIS student finishing up my last semester. I am
interested
in doing my research proposal on outreach services that have been
conducted for ya's, particularly 4th-8th graders. I am having a
difficult
time finding many research articles for this age group and any studies
at
all. Does anyone have any information or suggestions to where I might
find some studies or a starting point? I've looked in InfoTrac and
FirstSearch using many keyword searches. If anyone has suggestions or
leads, please respind to me at mkaedavis@yahoo.com.
Thanks so much!

I am seeking information about YA movie programs. I'm sure many of you
do
these types of programs in your library systems. My main questions are:
What are some of the companies that you have worked with to get public
performance rights for showing movies?
Is there a way to buy the rights to several movies at once?
I will post the responses to the list in the near future.
Thank you in advance,
Jeanenne Robinson

What about ending with activity books such as Hokey
Pokey (LaPrise), Clap Your Hands (Cauley) or
Toddlerobics (Newcome)? These are my favorites.

Here is the text of a letter I recently sent to Scholastic asking for
permission to use part of the Harry Potter book cover on a bibliography
brochure. Hope it helps.
"I am writing to inquire about using a portion of the cover art from
Harry
Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on a bibliography brochure promoting
J.K.
Rowling's books and other similar fantasy titles by various authors. As
a
public library we would like to take advantage of Harry Potter's
popularity
to promote recreational reading among children and teenagers. Toward
this
end I have composed a bibliography of 25 titles in addition to Ms.
Rowling's novels, and I would like permission to use the image of Harry
on
his broomstick from the cover of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
on
the front of our brochure.
I have enclosed the draft copy of our brochure cover for your review. I
look forward to your reply."
They didn't grant me permission, but I did get a nice response letter
telling me so.
