I have a stumper that I would love some help with:

Our patron remembers reading a book (maybe 4th grade level?), about 30 years
ago, about a young girl who's father had to hide her in the attic of a
lighthouse during the Depression.  At night, the girl would see a female
ghost walking along the beach.  The ghost turned out to be a real person.

I have checked the usual sources, but nothing has turned up.  Does this
sound familiar to anyone??

Many thanks in advance!

I have a patron who remembers a poem which contains the line(s): "two
monkeys sitting in a coconut tree." She said she's always thought of it as
being about evolution, but she's not sure. It's sounds kind of familiar, but
I couldn't place it. It wasn't in Granger's first/last line index. Does
anyone know this one? thanks,

I have a patron who remembers reading a "chapter book" about 10-12
years
ago (and she thought the book was "quite old" at that time) - about a
girl named Kirsten/Kirstin.  In the story, she is a member of a big
(Norwegian?) family and is especially close to a brother.  For some
reason, she was moved from her family.  The patron also remembers
Kirsten having a horse she adored.  The horse may have played a part
in
her coping with her having to move from her family or in the eventual
reunion with her family.  Does this ring any bells?  I've done
searches
including key word "Kristen", but have found nothing.  TIA, Kathleen

I have a 12 year old boy who ADORED the Gutman's "Million Dollar Shot".
He states he doesn't like to read much on his own, but loves books.
Million Dollar Shot is the first book he's read on his own for his own
pleasure that he really enjoyed (and finished!).  He would like to find
other books "like it".  He would like fictional books (preferably in a
series/set, but individual titles will be ok too) about football or
basketball with some sense of mystery or "unknown" in them..  We've
tried other Gutman books, but none have grabbed him, we've tried Matt
Christopher's books to no avail. Any suggestions would be welcome and
I'll be glad to post if there's interest!  TIA!

Hello Pubyackers and welcome back from the Great Void!
An eighth grade teacher has contacted me and asked for suggestions of poetry
and stories relating to the "meaning of home and homelessness."  Perhaps
even
music, or movies?

I've located (but haven't gotten to read):
Home, by Michael J. Rosen and Franz Brandenberg
So What Do You Do? by Douglas Evans
Asphalt Angels by Holtwijk, Ineke
King of Dragons by Carol Fenner
Street family by Adrienne Jones
The unsinkable Molly Malone by Mary Anderson
The beggars' ride by Theresa Nelson
Darnell Rock reporting by Walter Dean Myers
Almost a hero by John Neufeld
Where's home? by Jonathan London

Please send suggestions to me and I'll compile a complete list.  Thanks!

I have a patron looking for a book read "years ago" (of course!) about a
young fairy who is kidnapped and raised by witches, and grows up
believing she's a witch.  Later on, other fairies are captured by the
witches. She realizes what she is and rescues them.

I don't have a clue as to what book this is, although it sounds vaguely
familiar.  Does anyone out there recognize it?
