Our comic strip books have been in the J fiction for 16 years.  The kids
actually learn that Jim Davis writes the Garfield books, etc.  It spreads
out the load, and is not too taxing on our brains!  Because of the size and
weight of most of the Garfield books, we have two metal princeton files
taped down where the Garfield books usually are.  If they are empty, they
are all checked out.  I'm not sure if we have a humor sticker on them, but
we do genre sticker our J collection.

Thanks to all who responded to my request regarding Doubledog mysteries.

Everyone was very enthusiastic about the Doubledog kits and my library has
decided to purchase Rock and Roll over Dead for our teen summer program.
Libraries used as few as two staff and as many as 6 to run the program.
Some chose to use older teens to play the parts of suspects, but others
chose to simply read their parts.  Most of the programs ran about 2 hours.
Several people mentioned that the kits were very thorough and the directions
easy to follow.  Kits can be reused which makes it easier to specd the $40.
I was able to get more tips from the doubledog website.  Thanks again to all
who responded

Christie

Hi Jennifer!
We do not require the kids to read just our books, because we just want
them to read.  In most cases, I think the books are from our library, so I
don't think this hurts our circulation stats.  We don't even require that
they have a card from our Library.  This allows the kids from unincorporated
areas, or kids visiting relatives over the summer to join in the fun.
Our Adult program is set up specifically for those with our Library's
card and the have to use our books.

I have a patron looking for a book in which she does not know the title or
author.  It is a trilogy that takes place in Ireland and involves a mother
and 2 daughters.  One daughter is a sculptor whose work ends up in Dublin
after being in the countryside for many years.  The other daughter runs
the mother's house, turning it into a bed and breakfast after she kicks
the mother out.  Any ideas on what the tile or author is, or either?  The
patron said she read the books years ago, and that the author has written
a lot of other things.  She knows it is not Maeve Binchy.  Any help you
can give is apprecited.  Thanks!

I have a patron who read this in very late 70's or early 80's in school, so
the book had to have been published before then.

A brother and sister are hiding a slave in the Civil War.  It was a chapter
book, and thinks that it is about the underground railroad.  Sorry there is
no other info, even color of the book!

She would really appreciate finding this.

Thanks.

Help, oh collective brain...

A patron came in looking for a picture book which is about a train with
zoo animals.  Zach is the conductor, and he says repeatedly, "Stop all
the racket -- I'm getting a headache attack!"

Thanks in advance,

Toni
