I am trying to put together an order for next year and am stumped on
some requests.  Does anyone have any suggestions for a magazine to
replace Racing for Teens, an auto racing magazine?  I need it for a
middle school library.
I am also searching for titles for third graders on the following
subjects:  cooking books from other countries, a book to identify
Pokemon cards , and individual books on each planet.  I did subject
searches on Amazon and other online bookstores.  Thanks in advance.

HAHA!  so far the suggestion about cha-cha the stuffed monkey has been my
favorite.  he seems to have more personality than the other pets suggested
(and besides, i doubt he poops or needs to be fed).

someone suggested budgies, which i wouldn't recommend.  my budgie of two
years recently passed away (RIP, patchy), and i doubt i'll get another.
though good company, they're high-maintenance pets. more so than people
realize.  and i often found myself rather depressed by a beautiful bird in a
cage.  just thought i'd throw my opinion out.

Hello Everyone,

I hope someone out there can help me.  I work asan
Assistant Children's Librarian in the Weymouth Public
library.  I read to my three year old daughter a great
deal, lately she has become afraid of monsters in her
bed and in her closet. I would like to read her a few
books to let her know that monsters are not real and
she has nothing to be afraid of but I really do not
know where to begin my search.  I have seen the books
by Mercer but I was wondering if anyone had any other
ideas.
Thank You for your help,
Jennifer

Hi,we have our first-ever preschool storytimes at my
library, which are run by a volunteer.  Unfortunately,
neither she nor her preschool daughter have been
library users in the past, and she seems sort of
oblivious when her daughter is running around,
jumping, pounding on computer keyboards, etc.  We're a
small, one-room library, so exuberant behavior that
would be OK in a separate children's room (not the
computer pounding, though!) is very disruptive to
other patrons.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a book to read
to the children at storytime that would get the point
across--gently--about how to behave in the library?
You can send your suggestions to me directly at
websterl@tds.net, and I'll summarize responses, if
there's any interest.
      Thanks for your help.
