Our community also has a Festival of Trees and our Friends of the Library
sponsors a tree each year that is decorated by our Teen Advisory Board.
This is a FUN activity!  We built a BOOK TREE last year!

Here's a few from my file of YA book quotes (most not recent titles,
though).

"The hearse was Henry's idea." - The Shadow Brothers by A.E. Cannon

" Meeting Harris would never have happened were it not for liberal
quantities of Schlitz and Four Roses." - Harris and Me by Gary Paulsen

" Out at the city limits, there's this sign that says: WELCOME TO CLAYPITTS,
PEARL OF THE PRAIRIE and if you'd believe that, you'll believe anything." -
Don't Look and It Won't Hurt by Richard Peck

" Sometimes, when I stand back and take a good look, I think my parents are
ambassadors from hell." - "A Brief Moment in the Life of Angus Bethune" from
Athletic Shorts by Chris Crutcher

'The meek don't inherit the earth, I don't care what the Bible says. The
meek inherit the shaft." - Dinky Hocker Shoots Smack by M.E. Kerr

"Lord, I've said it before and I'll say it again: You sure made some
mistakes when You made me. Surely to my soul I must have moss growing in my
head where my brains should be." - Where the Lilies Bloom by Bill and Vera
Cleaver

I always start out with a story.  Everybody loves a story and the kids
deserve a little entertainment if they are going to put up with my "what a
library does for you and how it works" speech. - jeri

Hi everyone,
My boss just handed me a notice that said Saginaw libraries read for
5 or 10 hours for their summer reading. We did 25 hours over 8 weeks.
If you did summer reading by time can you please e-mail me with your
total hours.  Thank you.  Pam

Hello everyone,

Has anyone had a request for book titles that are on the 3-4 grade reading
level but with high school/adult interest level for ESL classes?  A patron
has requested help and we are sure someone out there has probably had this
question already!

Thanks.

Hello collective brain!  A patron came in today looking for a villain named
"paper bag Eddie".  Here is all the information I have.  He read it in the
late 1940's, it may be a series, and the book was about several teenagers
who solved mysteries.  The bad guy was "paper bag Eddie".  If anyone
recognizes this, please get back to me.

Thanks

Hi
A customer is hunting out the name of a cartoon her brother-in-law was
nicknamed after.  It was 'something' and 'jam sponge'!
I'd appreciate an answer as soon as possible as the person concerned is
turning 70 very soon!

Thanks in advance
