A preschool teacher remembers reading this to her class a few years back:
Little girl in grocery store with father. She wants him to buy her
something, he says no. She knocks down 100 things, then 50 and so on...
eventually she is sitting by herself and someone tries to buy her.
Any hints?
Thanks,

Thanks for your reply. Most of the responses I've received are from people
who put in him in due to demand, without much checking of reviews. I'll be
posting to the list in about a week, including some excerpts from critical
essays.

Thanks so much to everyone who responded to my stumper
regarding humorous stories about little girls and
their stubborn ponies.
The answer my patron was looking for was the Thelwell
books including titles such as "Angels on Horseback,"
"A Leg at Each Corner" and "Thelwell Goes West."
She was also really excited to find she could buy most
of the titles on-line.
Thanks again for making me look good!

My apologies..the question did not attach the first time I submitted
this stumper. This question came to our e-mail reference:
I am trying to find the correct name of a children's book that I had
when I was young. I think that the book was published sometime
between
1970 and 1985. The copy I had was a thin, yellow, paperback with a
cover
size similar to that of a magazine. The main character was a
child-aged
being, not a person or animal. In the book, he tries out being other
things(the sun,a butterfly, a tree) but realizes that it's best just
to
be him. I think the title is something like, "I like to be me",
but
I'm
not sure. This is the start of my search so any help or direction you
can give would be greatly appreciated.
Please reply directly if you have any ideas on this book. Thank you!

The Texas Book Festival will feature a strong line up
of children's and young adult authors. Most festival
activities are free and proceeds from book sales and
ticketed events support grants to Texas public
libraries.
The complete schedule, and teacher guides for some of
the authors, is available through the Festival website
at http://www.texasbookfestival.org/
but I'll give a
short commercial for several programs.

Hi all!
We had on request for Henty books in our library and after looking at the
book I told them that it was probably not something I would buy for the
collection based on length, language (early 1900s English is not something
most kids will willing read), limited interested, and limited budget. As
to
being historically accurate I have serious doubts that a novel set in
ancient Egypt that was written before many of the major archeological
discoveries were made can be anywhere close to historically accurate.
hope this helps

We also have had a few recent requests for these books. We do not yet have
any in our library. Apparently they are very historically accurate and are
being reprinted. Please send replies to the list, as well, so we can all
benefit from any experiences.
Thanks.

If you didn't want them to think, you shouldn't have given them library
