I am planning a storytime for a Kindergarten class about picky eaters. I
have found some great books (The Lima Bean Monster by Dan Yaccarino,
Gregory the Terrible Eater by Mitchell Sharmat, D.W. the Picky Eater by
Marc Brown, and I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato by Lauren Child). Now
I am looking for some poems/rhymes/fingerplays pertaining to this theme.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks so much,

I've started a small drama club and am looking for a simple play the kids
can perform before a group of kindergarten children.  If anyone has a simple
Christmas play, I'd be so grateful.  And if you know of any good books with
simple plays in them (no fancy costumes or complicated scripts) I'd love to
know about them.  Currently, I have 17 children in this drama club and a
simple stage without stage lights, etc.  Thank you.

Hello All,
We have a patron in need of the October 1991 issue of Kids Discover. The
subject of this issue is "The Five Senses" or "Our Senses." Patron is
willing to pay to have this xeroxed and mailed.  The magazine has twenty
pages in color; however, the patron would be thrilled with a black and
white zeroxed copy. Do any of you have this issue? Would you  be willing
to xerox and mail?  Please reply to me.  Thank you!

A patron remembers seeing a review of a picture book a few years back -- the
story was about some mice who live in probably swiss cheese -- but for some
reason eat the cheese and are left homeless.  Anyone with any clues as to
the title etc of this book please let me know!  send reponse to:

Oh, great collective brain......
a patron is seeking a Christmas story, featuring a boy named Will, hard
times with little money, a church service that Father would not attend, set
in Appalachia?  Any glimmers?

Here is a new stumper for all of you.  A patron remembers reading "a long =

preparing to leave their ancient Anasazi home, possibly Pueblo Bonito.  An =
ailing grandparent was left behind to die because the trip was too =

could you send any ideas to me and I will post to the list.  Many thanks!
Helen

Stumper:  I had a lady come in tonight who is looking for a series of
picture books possibly published in the 1980s about a brother and sister
team who climb up a tree and meet all kinds of characters and find
adventures.  It's British, there's lots of text, the boy looks kind of like
Christopher Robin.

Lawyers for Libraries, an ongoing project of the American Library
Association Office for Intellectual Freedom, is designed to create a
network of attorneys around the country involved in, or committed to
becoming involved in, the defense of the First Amendment freedom to read
and the application of constitutional law to library policies,
principles, and problems.

The first two training institutes were held in 1997 and 1998 and proved
very successful. Beginning in 2003, we will be sponsoring regional
training institutes to ensure that libraries throughout the United
States will have access to effective representation when dealing with
First Amendment issues.

In addition to the scheduled institutes in Washington, D.C., and
Chicago, IL, we will soon announce dates and locations for future
regional institutes. If interested in staying informed about upcoming

Thanks for the wonderful sneeze storytime.  I just read Dave and the
Tooth Fairy by Verna Allette Wilkins. It's a great story, which begins
with Dave sneezing his tooth out, and then he can't find it.  When he
tells his grandfather, Grandad says, "Once I sneezed so hard all my
teeth flew out."  All the characters are African American, including a
very cool Tooth Fairy, who wants a new job where she can be with kids
when they're awake. The illustrations are great.

Remember the old song ...

Nobody likes me, everybody hates me
Going to the garden to eat worms.
Long slim slimy ones, short fat fuzzy ones
Oooy gooey ooey gooey worms ... etc.

We have a patron searching for a picture book version of this song that
her mother actually used in an elementary classroom several years ago.  I
can find the lyrics and music without trouble ... but I haven't found a
picture book version.  I've checked numerous sources including our
catalog, A to Zoo, Amazon.com, our staff, etc. etc. etc.  Does this sound
familiar to anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer,

I have a patron looking for a book that's very similar to Virginia Lee
Burton's "The Little House" (but isn't that one!)  It's about a
grandmother who sits on the porch of her house and watches as the city
is built up around her.  Roads go up, then buildings, then
skyscrapers...

I seem to remember that this was a stumper on the list before, but of
course, I didn't save the replies.  Does anyone recognize this?

Hi!  I need your help in finding this poem.
The customer believes that the poem is called
"Super Silly Song" but doesn't know what book
it came from.  There is a line in the poem
that is not the first line, but might be the
middle or last, and it may have been repeated:
"Fill your shoes with jello and dance around
the room."
The customer also believes that this is probably
an older poem.
Please send your response address below.
BTW, we tried Granger's, The Index to Poetry
for Children, and the Poem Finder Database.
TIA,
Kathy

Did anyone ever answer this? I definitely read it and had a strong
(somewhat negative) reaction to it, but I can't remember the name, and I
can't find it in over an hour of searching. (I'm home sick and have that
kind of time! :D )
