Dear Collective Brain:

We had a suggestion from a middle school student that we should have more
books on substance abuse/addiction for student reports.  Our reference
librarian has been looking for a good YA series on the subject with no luck.
Any ides out there?

Thanks,
Ann

I have had a request for books that deal with a mother's love for her =
child similar to Runaway Bunny.  Off the top of my head I came up with =
some of the obvious ones ie Guess How Much I Love You, I'll Love You =
Forever, Mama Do You Love Me?  Any other suggestions?  Thanks.=20

Has anyone seen a group from the Albany area do a puppet or theater
production for elementary school children that you would recommend?
We have a local theater group looking to give us a grant to sponsor a group,
and we'd like something the kids haven't seen before.  We're looking to
spend about $500.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - we hate to buy a pig in a
poke!
Thanks.

Dear all,

This is not much to go on, but if anyone has a clue it will be appreciated.
We have a patron who is looking for a book which she remembers from about 10
years ago. There is a lion in the book that is named "Cirdah" and the title
might have the word drum or drums in it. The book is not a picture book. The
patron remembers it as J or Y fiction. The book is not one of the C.S. Lewis
books, nor is it the Lion King. If you can be of assistance, please e-mail
to:

beckersu@oplin.org, OR connorke@oplin.org

Thanks!

Hello Friends:  Does anyone know this one?  Patron is
looking for an older book (doesn't know how old,)
where a little rabbit saves the other forest animals
from a fire by leading them out of the forest by
crawling low under the flames and smoke.  The only
other thing she remembers is the animals sitting on a
fence rail at the end of the book to thank the rabbit
for saving their lives.  Thanks in advance!  You guys
have never let me down on a stumper yet.  Debbie

I have a patron looking for a video from the late 80s - early 90s that has a
lady with frizzy black hair wearing a striped, black and white outfit who
lives in a type of fantasyland.  There are several girls in the story and
they play at the playground on slides holding their teddy bears. The song,
Make new friends but keep the old is in the book. This is a good as I could
get. Any ideas?

Hi everyone -

I sent the following message earlier this month and wanted to remind
everyone that it's not to late to make a contribution!

Stephanie Anton, Deputy Executive Director of the Association for Library
Service to Children, will be retiring in January. While at ALSC Stephanie
touched many of our lives when she listened to our woes, answered our
questions, helped us meet deadlines, kept the office running smoothly,
organized meetings, and advocated for library service to children and
families.

Please help celebrate Stephanie's contributions by submitting a letter,
memory, picture, poem, drawing, or something else of your choosing for a
commemorative scrapbook that will be presented to her at the Joint Youth
Divisions Reception at Midwinter.

Don't delay! Send you submission by December 29th to the Association for
Library Service to Children, American Library Association, 50 East Huron,
Chicago, IL 60611

Thanks so very much!
