Games Glad tooth, sad tooth Make a stick puppet of a tooth. One side is clean and smiling, the other sad, dirty and decayed. Give examples of good and bad tooth care. Children call out, "Glad Tooth," or "Sad Tooth." Play "Pin the Tooth in the Mouth", using a wide mouth with one missing tooth. Hide paper teeth around the room for children to find. Demonstrations Soak a boiled egg in cola for a few hours to discolor. Let dry, then use as a demo to show children how brushing your teeth works, using brush & toothpaste, it comes clean! To simulate cleaning teeth, I cut large teeth from white Styrofoam meat trays donated by a local grocery store. Before the children arrived, I painted the teeth with yellow paint. When the paint was dry, I showed the children how to make a homemade toothpaste out of baking soda and water. The children then placed the teeth in a large baking pan and used toothbrushes to "clean" the plaque off of the teeth. They loved turning the yellow teeth into sparking clean white ones! Crafts Marshmallow Mouth Supplies needed: piece of tag board cut into a rectangle (about the size of your hand)- rounded at the corners, miniature marshmallows, glue, red marker Glue the miniature marshmallows around the edges of the rectangle. When dry - fold the rectangle in half - it will look like a set of teeth. Use the red marker to make a tongue or you could use red construction paper or felt. Make playdough, dye it pink, give each child a bit to roll into a long roll, shape like a gum, then place navy beans in it to resemble teeth Dental Health Songs Dr. Danny Always tells me, Brush your teeth, Brush your teeth.
