Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get a read to dawgs program going (tales for tails? arf arf
arf), and i have a couple of contacts that i can follow up on -- i'd love
some advice on what to include in a brief orientation for the handlers --
e.g. helping children focus on reading? or tips on reading to children, if
the handler wishes to do so... tips on how to handle parents who might ask,
"how are my child's reading skills?" ... safety for the handler, dog and
child?

can you think of other items to include? i'd  love some help with the
content, if you can indeed spare the time to help a newbie librarian like me
;-)

cheers,

kapila

Hi,
I'm hoping that someone out there has encountered this question before.
I had a patron come in this evening, asking for a list of all the possible names for GOD.
All variations, and all religions.  She then told me that she was a professional researcher, and had searched extensively on the web.
All suggestions are welcomed.
TIA

Hello friends,

A patron asked one of our staff members about a series he remembered  (from
the 60's?) called, "You Are/Were There?"...."At the Alamo"...."At Pearl
Harbor", etc.
Maybe it was "We Were There At The...?"....anyway, I'm sure you get the
gist. He couldn't remember if it was a fiction or non-fiction series.

This sure tickles my memory cells, but I can't get the phrasing exactly
right. Can anyone out there help with the correct series title?

Thanks in Advance....

Greetings,

This doozy of a stumper ambled onto my desk today and I am hoping that
someone out there can help me figure this one out.  The story is set in
the 1930's (perhaps) and involves a boy who lives with his grandfather
in the woods.  They hunt turkeys.  Wait, it gets better.  Their method
for capturing turkeys is to soak raisins in whiskey (or brandy) and
leave them out for the turkeys to eat.  Then, of course, when the
turkeys are intoxicated the boy and his grandfather capture them.  The
patron read this when she was in 6th grade.

Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Below is a copy of my original post about a stumper.  It posted to the list on a Saturday when subscribers were having problems receiving from the new list.  I didn't hear from anyone so I thought I would retry!  Any ideas on the title???????

TIA!

Hello, all!

Does anyone out there know the answer to this stumper title?

It is a picture book and the cover has a picture of a little girl with binoculars.  The story line follows the days of the week.  For example "On Monday this is what I see......"  there is a red bird, orange cat, horse, monkey, parrot and hound dog pictured for different days of the week.

It is not, Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?

I can picture the cover of this book but can't come up with a title!  Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give!  Please respond to the address below and I will post the answer to the list.

I have a patron looking for children's books that will help her 8 year
old daughter understand her own depression.  I can locate titles about a
parent's depression, but it is not so easy to find books written for
young children to help them understand their own depression.  Thanks in
advance for any help and titles you can offer.

Hi,

I am in the midst of planning a storytime with a
pretzel theme. Beyond Walter the Baker, do any of you
know any books, fingerplays, games, etc. that I can
use?

Thanks!

Natalie

Hi All,

Does anyone have any suggestions for books on bubbles
or bubble gum.  I'll be reading to kids pre-k through
middle elementary.  I am drawing a big blank and would
be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks,
Christy
