Sorry I deleted the original sender's email address, so I'll post to the
list:
we did Bird stories just last week, and played a fun game with our
Story Time crowd (3-5yrs.) It was called "Bluebird". The format of the
game was basically like "London Bridges." Two people made a bridge with
their hands, and the rest of the kids form a line, with hands on shoulders
of the person in front of you. The long line of kids goes under the
bridge. While they walk, everyone sings this song. I can't help you with
the tune, so you could probably make up one, or borrow one from another
song:
"Bluebird, Bluebird,
In and out the window,
Bluebird, Bluebird,
In and out the window,
Bluebird, Bluebird,
In and out the window,
Oh, Jenny I'm tired!"

When you get to "tired," the bridge people bring their arms down and
trap whoever is passing under. If you want to, you could have the trapped
person then switch places with one of the bridge people, but for the sake
of simplicity, we didn't do that. The kids were just happy to see whoever
would get trapped!
Also, the first full week in May is national Be Kind To Animals Week.
We are doing Pets for our last Toddler Time/Story Time in April, to gear
up for that wek in May. There's a very amusing song in Jan Irving's book
FROM THE HEART, called "Pets Go To School." It's sung to the tune of
"Mulberry Bush." You could use that with masks, or make a feltboard story.
Hope these are helpful!
