The YA librarian and I work with the pregnant and parenting teens in the
local high schools. We go in monthly and present materials dealing on a
variety of topics. Each class includes materials for kids and for the
parent. This month the parent topic is dealing with the issues
surrounding living at home, being parented and trying to parent at the
same time. Many of these kids want to parent their child differently
from the way they were parented. Does any one know of any resources that
can give some ideas and strategies for these teen parents? We need to
find things that are not too overwhelming in either length or
complexity. I know good luck. ANY suggestions whether they be print or
non-print, would be great.

Thanks Carrie & Lydia

Subject: Russian folktale stumper

A patron brought in some nesting dolls with characters from a story painted
in scenes on the dolls's skirts. When she bought them at a fair, the
seller briefly recounted a story dealing with those characters. Does
anyone know a Russian fairy tale that includes the following : 5 young
women (sisters or princesses?), a "prince" with a flute, a hut in the
woods and a church. Several girls fromn the largest doll scene re-appear
in groups, and one with a second young man. The "prince shows up with the
same girl twice. One girl holds a pink flower in one picture. Any tale
that would include most of those elements would be appreciated. This one
is really vague! I have tried Index to Fairy Tales and Folktales homepage
at www.dwci.edu. Thanks!

Subject: May Lamberton Becker -thanks!

I got several responses about the May Lamberton Becker intros - so, thank you
very much to everyone for their information. The books were a series of
Rainbow Classics published in 1946 and included many titles besides the titles
my patron remembered. So far I've tracked down one in our library system, but
Phalbe Henriksen found some for me at bibliofind. It's wonderful to have such
a resource as PUBYAC - thanks again, Julie Winkelstein

Subject: Stumper: Cranberry loaf

I'd like to thank the many people (too many to name) who sent me
responses to my stumper about the hidden cranberry loaf recipe. I have
yet to make contact with the patron but I am sure she will be overjoyed.
The overwhelming response was Cranberry Thanksgiving by the Devlins.
Thanks again
