Subject: Children's book videos
Greeting all.
I was approached by the librarian that orders children's books for our
library. She is looking for videos on authors of children's books. The only
thing she is finding is children's books that have been put on video but
what she is wanting is biographical information about the authors on video.
She has looked at several catalogs including one biographical catalog and
has not come up with anything. Does anyone have any suggestions where to
look? Or, does anyone have any good videos like this in their collection
who would let me know the name and where it was ordered from? Any help is
appreciated. Please send your responses directly to me:

Thanks all!!!

Appreciate if anyone could e-mail or fax a good current bibliography or
suggestions esp. for grade levels 2-4 of SciFi titles, we want to prune
the golden oldies and market some of the newer titles (less than 5 yrs. old)
and authors in this genre for the elementary school age levels. Thanks!

Subject: New Sibling Bibliography
Hi,
My first post! I am working on a bibliography for a local adoption
agency. I need to gather together titles of picture books that explain
or deal with the relationship of a new sibling(s) coming into the
family. I have found a fair number so far. However many deal with the
"pre-birth....mommy is pregnant...going to the hospital" aspect.
Thought
before I try and re-invent the wheel I would see what this list can come
up with. Will share my findings with the group. This has come about b/c
many of the adoptive families are now going back to adopt a second
child. Many are international adoptions where the birth parents are
unknown.
Thanks!!

THe Library of Congress has published a book in 1998 called, The Language of
the Land. Written by Marha Hopkins and Michael Buscher it is a book on
literary landmark maps.
Does anyone have this title? Does it have a lot of children's literature
maps? Amazon.com has very little info, and I can't seem to find a copy
in Illinois to ILL [although my search wasn't thorough by any means!]
If you can get your hands on a copy of this book, please email me back so
I can ask you a few questions.

Subject: stumper/two brothers series
Hello all -
Here's a stumper - maybe one of you will remember this series.
The patron describes this as a series of books which he read in the 70's.
The books concern two brothers who travel around the world with their
father, who collects animals for zoos.
Each book is an adventure in a different country, and the titles have a
lot of factual information on the country woven into the story.
The books may have been British, but our patron is unsure.
I've checked various series bibliographies. Does anyone remember these?

Need some input--a patron came in looking for picture books to use with
her 3-year-old daughter. Something that touches upon a mother and father
of different races (white mother/African American father, or similar).
She wants something that displays or gives the message that people are all
the same on the inside, no matter what they look like on the outside. So
far, we have come up with "Two Mrs. Gibsons" by Toyomi Igus and
"Whoever
You Are" by Mem Fox. Neither are perfect and the Igus title is for an
older audience. We checked A to Zoo and Bookfinder. Any input is
appreciated. Please respond to me directly--asjones@suffolk.lib.ny.us

Subject: stumpers - (three)
A patron was in today looking for some favorite titles from his childhood.
He said that he had been searching for a while at bookstores and libraries
- - to no avail. When I told him I could try the collective genius of PUBYAC
- - he was delighted. He had three memories - no titles. Each of the books
is at least 25 years old (that is when he read them, he does not remember
them as brand new.)
1) A boy visits a ranch. (unfortunately this is the most vague. It is
not the Billy and Blaze books)
2) A family goes hiking and only the little boy pays attention to
everything around him. Ultimately the boy is able to find the way back
because he remembers everything he saw on the way.
3) Three princes are told they must get out of a tower in which they are
locked. They must do it three times. One time they paint themselves with
spots so that they will have to be carried out on stretchers. Ultimately
they succeed and save the castle from a fire.
The patron thought they were picture books
Thanks in advance for any help. I'll post replies.

met a story time mom whose son loves horses & she is so excited to hear
there will be new titles to check out.
Happy Trails!

Hi,
I've been lurking on this list for a couple of years,
but now I need to appeal to your collective wisdom.
A patron is looking for a mouse story she remembers
from the late 1960's. It might be a story in a
collection of stories, or it might be a book in and
of itself. It's about a mouse who has to set out on
a journey and walks and walks until he literally
wears his feet out. She remembers that the story was
illustrated, but cannot recall if it's a picture book
or something lengthier. She does know it's not
"Stuart Little." If this rings any bells, please
email me directly and I'll post the answer to the
list. Many Thanks.

Hello all!
An elderly patron remembers a bits of a poem he memorized in school and
I hope that one of you knows what it is! We have checked Granger's to
no avail. This is what he remembers:
I was a pirate once
A bold fellow with a scarlet sash and language (?) rash
I marooned a man on an island bare
Took treasure wealth untold
Bright bars of silver and chunks of gold.
Sound familiar to anyone?
