Subject: Re: stumpers - (three)
Thanks to everyone who responded to the stumper questions. I've passed all
of these titles on to the patron.
There are four possible titles for the boy visiting the ranch:
1/ Ranch for Danny - Clyde Bulla
2/ Cowboy Andy - Edna Walker Chandler
3/ Wild geese flying - Cornelia Meigs
4/ Cowboy Sam - Edna Walker Chandler
The family hiking - finding way back due to observations of the little boy:
Tommy's camping adventure - Gladys Saxon (Golden Book)
Three princes in tower:
Big jump and other stories - Benjamin Elkin.
Again, thank you all. The patron is duly impressed.

Subject: Easy Readers
Dear Collective Mind of PubYac-
I'm looking to expand my easy reader collection, particularly focusing on
very early beginning readers. I have all the sets of Bob Books, Hello
Readers, most Bank Street Ready to Read, Puffin, Viking Easy to Read, and
all the Frank B. Edwards Books and some others. I'm looking for those that
are *very* simple (three or four words on a page).
We have a fairly large collection, but these kinds of books just seem to be
in such high demand and I'm wondering if there are more excellent
series/books I can get. I would appreciate all input. If there is enough
interest, I will post my list to the group. Please
send all responses to: elainem@worldnet.att.net
Thank you in advance!

Subject: 2 stumpers
Hi all! I am relatively new to children's librarianship and need some
help finding two stories. A patron is looking for a book that she saw 6
years ago which features several babies (on each page) going through
their day (from waking up, eating breakfast...to going to sleep). She
thinks the title is Busy Day. I have found several books with that
title but none of them are what she is looking for. (I think perhaps she
has the title wrong). The patron also said that she remembers it being
a large book (larger than the average picture book, but not as big as a
Big Book format.) I have tried A to Zoo, BIP, Amazon.com, etc.. Any
help on this would be appreciated!
I am also looking for a story that I heard a storyteller tell about two
years ago. I believe it is an american folktale (of course, I could be
wrong), but here is what I remember. There is a hermit who lives
outside of town; he only comes to town to go to the store. The town
(and especially the children of the town) find him fascinating because
he always has a bucket on his shoulder. He will not divulge why he has
a bucket, which inspires the children to find out. A small group of
children sneak into his house and peek into the bucket. Unfortunately I
can't remember the most important part of the story which is what was in
the bucket!! Does this story sound familiar to anyone out there? I
have tried several folktale indexes, children's anthologies, amazon.com,
BIP, A to Zoo, etc...with no luck.
Thanks for any help anyone can give me! Please reply directly to me.
