Hello,

I recall some recent posts about distance learning (internet
courses) in the library field, but at the time I didn't save them. Now
I have a colleague who is interest. I hope that someone who has
information or saved posts regarding this subject can send them to
me.

Thank you.

Hi all,

I have a patron who was looking for a children's book that she read in the
early 80s, although the book is probably quite a bit older. It is about
an Asian couple who are raising their child androgenously as a science
experiment. The child goes to school and no one knows if it is a boy or a
girl. The child has a name that could be either sex. At the end,
everyone really likes the way the child looks and wants to be just like
him/her.

The title does not come up in any of our local catalogs in keyword or
title searches. I've also searched WorldCat, Amazon.com, and
ABEbooks.com. The patron thinks the title is Baby X, but she also
admitted that it's possible that is the phrase she remembers best from the
book.

Any ideas? Please reply directly to me, not thru the listserve. TIA.

Here is a request from another listserv. Please reply directly to the
sender as she's not a member of our list. Many Thanks.

Jackie -

You would be welcome to visit Nassau County, New York. There are 54
independent public libraries in Nassau County which is on Long Island, just
east of Queens (New York City). My office consults with the children's
librarians in the county and attempts to provide good continuing education
and other resources for them. Let me know if Nassau County would be a good
stop for you and I will arrange visits in different size libraries in the
county.

I hope that your trip will be most beneficial and a lot of fun!
