The Department of Library Science at Clarion University is seeking to fill
three full-time temporary faculty positions for the academic year
2001-2002. Qualifications for each position vary, but each requires an

teaching
contracts may be available. Though applications are already under
review,
this is an ongoing search and interested applicants are encouraged to
submit their credentials. Clarion University is located in scenic
northwestern Pennsylvania within two hours drive of Pittsburgh, Erie, and
Cleveland. Its MSLS program has been continuously accredited since
1974/75. For information on the department, please visit

Hi everyone,
I'm currently doing research on mentoring programs for new staff in public
libraries. Does anyone out there have such a program or know of one?
How
effective has it been? How is it set up? What would your ideas
be for
structuring such a program? Would it be useful in your workplace?
How, =
in
general, does your library deal with staff turnover? Please reply to
me
directly at lmcnamar@hcpl.net.
I'll summarize the feedback I get and post
it to the list.
Many thanks,

Hello everyone,
I need all of your wonderful help in locating a book. It was read sometime
in the mid 1980's by a fourth/fifth grader, but it looked like an older
book. It was about a family with lots of kids. One of the daughters broke
her leg at one time. The family was very proper, which makes me think it may
be about the Victorian times. The book centered around the lives of the
entire family. It is not Cheaper By The Dozen. The family may have also sang
a lot, and Christmas was mentioned as well.
Thanks for your help!

does anyone remember a book with "little creatures" called noonins?
the
patron (in her late 20's) remembers reading it about the same time she was
interested in the Borrowers, etc.
at about age 11. I've searched our catalog and my staff's brains but no
recollection.
Thank you!

I had a teen in who wanted the fourth book in the Crystal Singer
Trilogy. I told him "trilogy" means a series of three, but
he insisted
that there's another in the series. Is he right or can I add this
request to my list of funny patron questions?! I don't follow sci-fi
so
I imagine anything is possible in that realm.
Thanks,

Dear PUBYACERS:
We have a staff member looking for a children's book for one of her friends
with a character named "Lazy Lisa Lizard" (or Liza??). This
book was read
to him probably 40 or 50 years ago. The only thing he remembers about
it is
that in the story some character gets sick and is given tea and hot buttered
toast. Thanks for your assistance!
