A young patron remembers a book he read: a boy is bitten by a dog and
turns into a poodle if he is out when the moon is full. Mom says it is a
picture book, but not scary. Any ideas?

Dear Great Minds,
I have a patron looking for a Dr. Seuss book with a picture of a stork while
flying carrying a baby. I've checked my collection but found nothing. She
saw
this picture in the newspaper a while back. Personally it doesn't ring a
bell.
Any assitance is appreciated. TIA

I'm sure we've addressed this before on PUBYAC. I have a single parent
(mother) with a two-year old daughter. She is looking for books which will
address the fact that there is just the 'two of them.' The father lives in
another state and has no contact.
I've checked some catalogs but haven't found just the right book about a mom
and her daughter, on their own, and would love suggestions for her. Thanks
in advance because I know I will have the perfect list for her within days.

I'd like to thank Mary Voors Manager of Children's Services at Fort Wayne,
Indiana's Allen County Public Library for her excellent resource on their
website : Parent's Primer, a series of booklists on many sensitive topics.
If you haven't checked out this list, do so.

A patron is looking for a book she read as a child approx. 25 years ago. =
It was about an inner city family (she's thinking New York) with 5 =
daughters living in the 1920-1940 era. The family is Jewish and the story =
takes you through a year of their holidays and traditions. She believes =
the title had something to do with "In a Row" but I have tried
"Five in a =
Row" and "All in a Row" to no avail. Any ideas will be
appreciated. =
Thank You!

Hi all,
I have a patron looking for a book titled "Max". It is a
wordless book with
a character that does all kinds of silly things. Has anyone heard or seen
a
book of this type?
Thanks!
Kristin

Dear Michelle,
Garreth Stevens has a great series called "Courteous Kids".
Titles include:
Admitting mistakes, after you, being helpful, being kind, I'm sorry, No,
thank-you, Taking turns, etc. It's multicultural and geared to
pre-schoolers. Hope this helps. Barbara Wilkie
