Hello! We have lots of parents interested in having a listing of books that
their children grades 4th-6th (reading at 7th-8th grade level)can read in
the YA section. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Not alot of
violence, sex or relationships would be great. Parents would like to feel
comfortable that their children can read off this list and not be exposed to
more than they need to know.

Thanks in advance for any bibliographies!

Thanks very much to everyone who responded to my plea for the titles of
journals about children's and youth library services.

For those who are interested, VOYA seems to be the best thing since sliced
bread for young adult services, with lots of people recommending it.
However, and interestingly, there doesn't seem to be much around on services
for children.  JOYS got a mention or two, but of course has ceased
publication.  We can only wait to see what the replacement will be like.
And I got quite a few titles of reviewing journals to choose from.
Thanks again,
Pam Gravenor

Anything written by Laurie Lawlor - The American Sisters Series is good
American Quilts Series by Susan Kirby
Trailblazer Books by Dave & Neta Jackson
Sarah's Journey Series by Wanda Luttrell
Christian Heritage Series by Nancy Rue
The Dreams of Mairhe Mehan by Jennifer Armstrong
 Bonanza Girl by Patricia Beatty.
The Executioner's Daughter by Laura E. Williams
Fever, 1793 by  Laurie Halse Anderson
If Ever I Return Again by  Corinne Demas
The Ransom of Mercy Carter by Caroline B. Cooney
Wheel of the Moon   Sandra Forrestemerican
I have read all of these and they were very good and I don't remember
any boy/girl relationships in them.  There were a few that were
friends.....but friends only.

By the way, my husband grew up in Brazil, IN.  I know right were your
library is.

Good Luck
