Hi Dana,
When I checked, I was told that Bookmen is now part of Ingram and you can
pretty much order anything from Ingram that you would have ordered from
Bookmen.

Dana, I called Ingram Book Company which absorbed The Bookmen, Inc., at
1-800-937-8000, selecting option in which you can ask questions about
ordering. In order to have access to a black-and-white list of all board
books available (which is known as a "1-time-mail system"
query/order), you
will need to give person who handles the query your Ingram Account
Number. Once you give this number, Ingrams will handle your query.

Thank you to Jennifer Marin for her suggestion to my stumper about a book
published at least 20 years ago, set in the US, maybe in the early part of
the 1900's, about two girls who are friends, with specific rememberances
about a Chautauqua (forgive spelling errors), a doll named "Cordelia"
and
the girls dressing up like the doll. Her recommendation sound like it fits
the bill and we are ILL'ing it for the patron. Jennifer recommended:
"TWO ARE BETTER THAN ONE by Carol Ryrie Brink, 1968. Summary reads, "
A
Christmas package with two miniature dolls reminds an old lady of the year
she and her best friend were thirteen and writing a "romantical"
novel."
Another summary reads, "Two young girl friends grow up together and
coauthor
a novel in Idaho in the early 1900's." And the girls' names were Chrystal
and Cordelia. I couldn't find any further description. I think I may still
have my childhood copy of it (guess I'm just as old!) and I can check to see
if other details fit.

Karla, the site is great! I used google.com and entered www.family.go.com
and found other information besides the crafts! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Tracey,
No I don't, but if you don't need too many you can make your own with
Microsoft Publisher or any other publishing programme and a full sheet
of uncut label paper. I use this all the time to produce theme stickers
for my storytime kids and then just cut the label sheet into whatever
sized design you printed on it. You can save your design and use it
again next year, so even if your initial time input is high next year it
will be as easy as point and click print.

I have been following the "series" thread with great interest, since
updating our series is one of my goals for this winter. I wonder what you
do with the Matt Christopher books, which are now being written by several
different authors. Is "Matt Christopher" the series title?
Or do you go
longer with "Matt Christopher sports stories?" And if so, how do
you put
that on a spine label? This question has been running around in my brain
for awhile, so I thought I'd throw it out there to see what other libraries
do.
You can email me directly at roberta@effinghamlibrary.org,
or if you think
other libraries would be interested, just respond to the list.
Thanks!
Roberta

Simly use glue and glitter on the label side - instant ornaments or
suncatchers! String with fishing line for best effect....

Hi Diane,
At our library, we have 4 internet access computers out on our main floor
that
are filtered. These are open to anyone's use, whether a cardholder with
our
library or not, and regardless of age.
We also have a computer lab where the internet is not filtered. To use the
computer lab, a person must have a library card with us and be 18 or over.
Anyone 15 or over may get a "Cyberlicense," signed by their parent in
our
presence, which says they may use the lab.
2) This policy seems to be working well. If someone is from out of
town
and
needs to check their email, they can just use one of the filtered computers
on
the floor which are open to anyone.
3) If people want to use the lab but have forgotten their card, we use
their
driver's license to verify identity, and then check in the system to make
sure
they have a card with us. Works slick!
Hope this helps,
Toni

I am a Youth Services Consultant in a public library system in New York
State. Our library system serves 5 mostly rural counties with many small
one-person libraries.
I am looking ahead to 2003: meeting topics, samples of nametags and crafts
as well as a myriad of other things. I want to give the libraries ample
opportunities for input and critique of the services and programs provided
by the Youth Services Dept. Of course the simplest way is to have evaluation
forms available at meetings and trainings that I host for our libraries.
Does anyone have an evaluation form that they feel is spectacular?
I have some samples but I want to investigate others because I think a
well-designed evaluation form will encourage meeting attendees to respond as
well as give me the necessary input.
Please send your favorite evaluation form/tool to me via e-mail or via snail
mail.
Thanks in advance.

Hi All,
Bookman was bought out by Ingram. I had ordered books in the summer and
got a phone call from Ingram saying they were going to fill it. Belinda

My favorite thanksgiving craft for the younger crowd
(K-3) is the feetprint & handprint turkey idea.

If you haven't been introduced to this website
already, EnchantedLearning.com is a wonderful

If she's really attached to the American Girls/
Pleasant Company Publishing, try the History Mysteries
or another of the AG Fiction titles.
For more info, go to the AmericanGirl.com website,
click on shop, then on bookstore. Then you'll have a
better idea of what's out there!
