Does anyone know of any good picture books about the tooth fairy (that
are still in print)?
Thanks,

Subject: Stumper: Toby & haunted house book
Oh, great collective brain:
A patron is looking for a book his 5th/6th grade class read back in the
early 70's. He remembers the plot centering around a boy named Toby who
moves to a new neighborhood and has trouble making friends until he and
several other kids spend the night in a haunted house and become
buddies.
(He remembers the cover as being tan with the name Toby in an
almost-calligraphic script.)
TIA.

Subject: Scary Story Stumper Solved
Hello Pubyac!
Sorry this reply is so late, but for some reason it keeps getting
bounced back to me. So, here we go again!
Thanks to all of you (and there were many!) who responded to my
questions regarding the scary story about a woman whose head falls
off when the ribbon around her neck is undone. It's can be found in
Juba This and Juba That by Virginia A. Tashjian as "The Yellow
Ribbon" or in Diane Goode's Book of Scary Stories and Songs and In
a Dark, Dark Room by Alvin Schwartz as "The Green Ribbon." I had
thought it was in one of the Schwartz books, but had only checked the
3 "Scary Stories" titles -- now I'll never forget to check his easy
reader collection too. Jackie Torrance also has a recorded version
on "Jump Tales." My patron is excited because she can now tell the
story at a sleep over, and I am excited to discover Juba This and
Juba That -- it will be an excellent book to use in children's
programming! Thank you all again!

Subject: stumper
A patron is looking for a book read to her in the early 50's [54 or
before]. It is an indian legend stating how catfish got flat heads.
The story goes that catfish were in the river, taunting indians who were on
their horses. The indians got fed up and trampled the catfish, and now
catfish have flat heads.
The patron is a librarian herself and has had difficulty locating the
book, looking in the "usual sources". She is convinced that this is a
word of mouth stumper.
I hope this information is enough, if it is not, please e-mail me
directly. You can use my personal e-mail listed below or the departmental
one listed above.
Also, thanks to everyone who helped me with my previous stumper, it was
indeed Wings by Brittain.
Thanks,

Subject: Usagi Yojimbo comics
If any of you have Usagi Yojimbo graphic novels in your libraries, could
you let me know where you put them -- in children's collection or young
adult?
Also, has anyone seen reviews of these comics? I know that
Parents' Choice Foundation gave them an award, and that they're for
"all ages", but we've had a patron complain that they should be in
YA rather than in Juvenile collection. Would like to know your
thoughts.
Thank you,
